Once upon a time – First time to Basel

It was the time, when we (only three of us then), we were moving to Switzerland( Basel) in 2010. yea, 10 years later, I got the time to write I can say.

My lil one was hardly 6 months, done with her annaprashana in Guruvayur then, was all set to travel. Everything was quick I can say. I was always mentally prepared for anything even before anyone else was(my hubby takes time for it) and for my lil one didn’t know another world apart from her mom’s arm.

I did a couple of shopping, as I was lil stout then, the post-pregnancy weight gain was huge, as I was always a lazy one. I brought a couple of thermals, winter wear, jeans and everything that is needed for the winter and yes a couple of warm clothes too.

Our flight was in the night and as usual, my hubby was busy in his office ( all the IT guys has to work around, even the day they travel). I was running errands dealing the packers and movers and doing the final bit of packing. Once the packers and movers left, I shifted my focus to getting ready. We ll freshened up and got ready.

Then bidding goodbye to Bangalore. Moving and shifting was never a panicking thing for me. I was pretty cool always and yes I love to travel. I got my baby dressed up well enough to handle the chill weather even in a plane.

Our flight was lil boring and quite long. We had to travel Bangalore >> Mumbai>> Istanbul>>Then Basel.

So the transit time was short and crisp, any delay we had to run. And the greatest mistake I did was not having a baby stroller, which made my hands ache all along.

Since travelling distance was new to the baby as well, I had trouble handling her. She was lil cranky all the way and from Istanbul to Basel, since it was a small plane, i felt congested actually. The journey from Mumbai to Istanbul was pretty good though.

Since it was my hubby’s first-time travel to International locations, he was lil confused. Thanks to my knowledge of travelling, since I was brought up in the Gulf. We managed it all along.

The moment we reached Basel, the airport looked deserted, and our luggage was lost in transit. Since the flight was lil smaller, the luggage was kept there in Istanbul and only a few things were sent. We just got one bag of ours and gave our addresses to the airport authorities to dispatch them to us.

Then we came out. Since I was so exhausted feeding my kid all along and then all the hassles with the luggage, the moment i stepped out onto to the outside, all i could think was a sweet cozy bed as my arms were aching.
It was snowing then slowly in Basel. It was the first snow in that year, and there I stood like amassed by emotions flooding in me. I just held my daughter closer to myself and then told her, it is snowing baby.
And then just looked at her.. And yes, it cleared my thoughts.

Thanks to the wonderful family, who gave us, the food and space to share, on the very first day. Will never forget the taste of the food they served us. Getting someone to take care in a foreign country without even being so close to us is something amazing.

Safe or Happy – What do you choose for her?

Time to ponder on some thought which has lately preoccupied in mind. Again this is one among the myriad of thoughts i have.

Most of the parents tend to get their girls married off early, assuming they are in safe hands. They just randomly pick someone, who might be assumed to be a suitor for their girl. They hardly know how that person is in life handling. Only education and financial status and sometimes a general awareness picked from the unknown people are considered as a value add points. And then the girl is set to be married.

Finally, she is in safe hands. right. Oh, yea.
When situations come like a brick fall, she has to face all the consequences, and parents assume she is still in safe hands. Because they are worried about single girls or even the worst parts of a divorced girl.
She has to live that relationship because she is not accepted anywhere.
Most of the time none knows what is the pain that girl has to go through when she realizes that her happiness is on stake for just safety.
She forgets to smile and live under the shadow of false happiness.
The end of her life.

Get a lil Sunshine and get a healthy mind

Ever felt suffocated, being enclosed in a room for hours.

I am one such person, who can’t stand a closed room, even the lift seems quite suffocating me, even when it is difficult to climb, at some instance, i prefer to choose steps.

Nowadays, as most of us are locked up insider home and even unable to take a break away from work. We all are not just escaping from Corona, but falling for another sickness that is Vitamin D deficiency, and much more i can say. People who are more confined to their homes, especially the older generation, kids and even people who are glued to their laptops are the ones who are targeted.

Most of us, who are working, want a peaceful space to work with no disturbance, hence choose a closed room. Even though we want to take regular breaks from work to grab some tea or coffee or even a little sunlight, we do not get a chance and end up in that room for a longer duration. By the time, we get the break, the sun is gone and our sleep arrives.
Being cooped up in your home is surely gonna eat up your brain, stimulate your stress hormones even when you are working from home, homeschooling your kids or just staying indoors during this pandemic. You are likely going to be prone to some mental stress, depression, back pain and even cold and cough.
It is said that spending time out in the sun and fresh air is linked to the vitality. It is also proven that time spends outside not only makes your body resilient to illnesses but also makes your mind fresh and open. If you see there are heaps of benefits on getting some fresh air and sunlight.
Here are some ways to soak yourself in sunlight and get your lungs a fresh gush of pure air.
Dont make excuses saying your gym is closed, walking for a while outside is ideal for your health. Either take your pet for a walk, or go for a run, or just take a brisk walk. These are all gonna benefit you in one way or the other.
Walking outside can also elevate your mood. Staying indoors for long is going to eat your patience and boost the stress hormones. It is not ideal for your mental health. Scientifically it’s proven that people who generally went out and walked are less prone to depression.

Going out for a while kills boredom. Yea ideal for your kids and even elder ones who are likely homeschooling and also staying indoors for long hours. When you go out, your brain likely gets so many things to watch for, which will stimulate good energy and positivity.
Open your windows and let some sunshine enter your home space, it lets you kill the germs in the atmosphere that are likely to exist in the closed areas. Ventilated homes are ideal for your brain health and mental health too.

If you see a lack of vitamin D, has also caused many health problems, like backache, bone problems, cold and cough and much more. Just walk around in the morning and get some stretches for those lazy bones for a healthy living.

Get a sharper mind and healthier body with a little sunshine and fresh air.

Hid their love beneath their skin

There was never a moment when they were apart. They roamed together, ate together, held each other every moment.
But one fine day, things started to fall apart.
Their world split into pieces, where each fell apart. The trust, the connection, and even the love they had.
What took them away, was nothing, but the world that they adored so much.
All they wished was the world to accept them…
but in turn, the world split them…
both hearts ached a lot and was thrown apart.
never to meet, as they were bounded by promises they made to the ones, who never treasured them being together.
Now they tread along, the silence of the world, unknown of the pain, they endorsed each other.
Never to be together again…
Hiding the love beneath their skin, adorning the scars the world gifted them.

Ever felt like living in a space, where you are unable to breathe?

Ever felt like living in a space, where you are unable to breathe?

Like you have been imprisoned forever in that space. You call it your home, you might be comfortable in one way, but there are constraints, you feel like your breathing with lots of obstacles.

You become much more aware and focused like a tiger waiting for the prey or a hare grazing on the grass aware of being caught and eaten up one day. It is indeed the toughest moment.

You want freedom,
you want to breathe in peacefully,
like none watching or creating rules for you.
You hold on to many things primarily because you are afraid to break the world you live in. One way you want that world, but in another way, it is a cage for you.
Do you feel it?
Sometimes, you need to choose to breathe in the freshness the world has to offer you.
